About me

I've been homeschooling my brood since April, 2001. Ten years now! My shortlings so far consist of:

Eighteen year old daughter who has graduated and is attending community college along with working a part time job. She is extremely creative and artistic, clever, kind, and fun to be around. She painted all her bedroom walls a deep purple. She's interested in a journalism related career.

Eleven year old son, 6th grader. Adores science, dragons, K'Nex and books. He makes me laugh everyday. We schooled eclectically, with heavy library book usage, from preK through 3rd grade. We used a virtual school (Connections Academy) for 4th grade, & a Charlotte Mason inspired education for 5th grade. This child loves to talk so Charlotte's heavy on narration system works wonderfully. This year, 6th grade, we have used an eclectic, Charlotte Mason inspired, structured sort of routine. My son's grown past copywork, & unfortunately the nature notebook just wasn't a hit. But I'll always enjoy a heavy-on- living books curriculum from here on out!

Son who turned 4 in November, 2009. Preschool is my favorite. As much as Charlotte Mason believed that preschoolers should just be left alone to play, I force my son to paint and make collages, and learn his letters and numbers with me. He loves it. ;) He's just learning to read, and is extremely artistic.

Shortling #4, turned two in December, 2009. He enjoys ignoring all the toys in the house, and playing with sheets, boxes, boots and sticks. A very happy, smiley kid. Loves to sing, & have books read to him.

Fifth shorty, born in October, 2009. He's a fat little baby that's into fat little baby things like breastfeeding, laughing at his family, and shoving everything into his mouth. He's also very cute & sweet.
